qLegal, the legal incubator for tech start-ups and entrepreneurs based at Queen Mary University London, had its launch event on 22 January at the Google Offices in London. The event was a great success and attended by well over 100 people. Guest speaker Sam Amrani, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Tamoco (www.tamo.co) and QMUL alumnus, helped to create a real start-up ambience, while Simon Gaskell, Principal of the University, emphasised QMUL’s commitment to supporting the growing tech-city phenomenon in London.
With overall leadership from Prof. Ian Walden from the Centre of Commercial Law Studies, and as part of the award-winning Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre, qLegal has got off to a flying start. It is hit the ground running and is already facilitating the provision of legal support to eight ICT start-ups with a expanding postgraduate team of over 30 students.
qLegal has developed also developed a solid platform of strategic alliances incluiding: Mills & Reeve LLP, Kilburn & Strode LLP, Intel Corporation (UK) Ltd., Unisys Corporation, Morrison & Foerster (UK) LLP, Edwards Wildman LLP, Campus London and Origin Ltd.
